4th April 1968 launch of the Saturn V

4th April 1968

The launch of the Saturn V began the mission called Apollo 6, this was the last test without a crew on the aircraft. The flight presented some problems during the first phase of
take-off indeed the rocket underwent the phenomenon
of pogo oscillations for 30 seconds before stabilizing. These oscillations are caused by the not homogeneous combustion that occurs inside the engines. The Mission Apollo 6 proved that a carrier rocket like the Saturn V had all the characteristics to transport people on the moon.
